Cancellation of March Events at Hancock

MARCH 12, 2020--Allan Hancock College is canceling several events planned through the end of March.

The decision to cancel these events is based on guidance from California Governor Gavin Newsom in response to concerns over the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. The guidance recommends canceling or postponing nonessential gatherings that include 250 people or more until at least the end of March.

While there are currently no reported cases of Coronavirus in Santa Barbara County, Santa Maria or at Hancock, the college is canceling or postponing the following events for March 2020 out of an abundance of caution based on the guidance from the Governor’s Office:

PCPA’s production of Julius Caesar

• March 12-22 at the Severson Theatre, Santa Maria campus.
• All remaining performances are canceled.
• Ticketholders can call the box office at 1-805-922-8313 or boxoffice@pcpa.org.

Hancock’s Dance Spectrum Spring 2020 showcase at the Marian Theatre

• March 12-15 at the Marian Theatre, Santa Maria campus.
• All remaining performances are canceled.
• Ticketholders can call the box office at 1-805-922-8313 or boxoffice@pcpa.org.

CTE Junior Day

• March 13, Santa Maria campus
• Event is canceled

AHC Concert Band featuring the Cabrillo HS Symphonic Winds and AHC Choir and Dance Departments

• March 28 at the Marian Theatre, Santa Maria campus.
• Performance postponed until further notice.

Allison Leigh Holt Art Exhibition and Artist Talk

• April 2 - May 10 at the Ann Foxworthy Gallery, Santa Maria campus.
• Postponed until further notice.
• The Ann Foxworthy Gallery will be closed through the end of April.

All athletic events through the month of March will take place as scheduled.

Hancock will continue to update the public about further event cancellations. All events planned for April will occur as scheduled until further notice. At this time, the Santa Maria and Lompoc campuses will remain open and all classes will continue as scheduled.

The college will continue to closely monitor developments related to the Novel Coronavirus and follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), which instructs the college to work with the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department on decisions regarding canceling classes and closing campus.
